Say Goodbye to 2015 and Hello to 2016!

Say Goodbye to 2015 and Hello to 2016!

2015 was a roller coaster ride of fetes and tragedies. Advocates of marriage equality around the world celebrated landmark victories in 2015. In May, Ireland became the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage through a popular vote. In June, the US Supreme Court ruled that all states must allow same-sex marriages. Other changes went into effect on a more local scale in countries including Mexico and Japan. We welcomed the discovery of water on Mars, a new royal baby (Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge), and another Star Wars movie.

In June the death of nine people at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina sparked debate about the continued display of the confederate flag at the South Carolina State House and other establishments around the US. An earthquake in Nepal, terrorist attacks in Paris and the Syrian refugee crisis have caused even greater devastation. We also lost a number of greats in 2015, including Leonard Nimoy, Frank Gifford, and Yogi Berra.

As the year comes to a close, we reflect, recognize accomplishments and mourn losses. We pat ourselves on the backs for a job well done and glean lessons from what we attribute to be our failures. We look forward to all the opportunities ahead in 2016 and the chance to grow as not only professionals, but as people.
