Personal Property Lists
A Personal Property List is a list of items that you want to specifically distribute upon your death; instead of the typical sell all and distribute the money part of a Will.
These lists can be a valuable way to make sure that particular sentimental or personalized items are distributed between your beneficiaries. Items such as artwork, journals, heirloom jewelry, and family records are excellent candidates for inclusion on a Personal Property List.
Each item listed should be fully and accurately described, and its recipient should also be identified. If you have personal property that you do not include on a list, it will be dealt with as the general remainder of the estate or however else you designate in your Will.
As with all Estate Planning documents, a Personal Property List should be updated from time to time. You will acquire new things and the meanings of some items may change. To provide for the most orderly and smooth distribution of your estate, make sure to keep your Personal Property Lists up to date.
